Davis Shores was founded by D.P. Davis in 1925 to develop the island area for housing, a casino, a yacht club, a roman pool and a golf course. The land bust in 1925 ended his dream.
Today, large lots, wide boulevards, winding streets and cul-de-sacs make the neighborhood unique to the area. Most of the homes started out as small 2 or 3 bedroom concrete block homes built after the post World War II building boom. Today, many of these homes have been beautifully remodeled. A few vacant lots have sold in the last few years and new homes built on them adding to the wide variety of housing options in Davis Shores.
There are no deed restrictions nor CDD fees here and Davis Shores is part of the City of St Augustine. Surrounded on three sides by water, Davis Shores is a peaceful neighborhood where residents are able to enjoy abundant natural areas and wildlife. People are often windsurfing, kayaking and fishing along Salt Run. St. Augustine Amphitheater is host to a farmer’s market each Saturday where fresh locally grown produce is found in abundance. This community is very friendly and residents are often walking or biking in the neighborhood. Neighborhood parks, nearby restaurants, a local market and ease of access to downtown make this a highly desirable place to call home.
